Abstract:

The body freedom flutter phenomenon is one of the aeroelastic instabilities that occurs due to the coupling of the aeroelastic bending mode of the wing with the short-period mode in the flight dynamics of the aircraft. By using the aeroservoelastic model and applying closed loop control, this phenomenon can be suppressed in the operating conditions of the aircraft and the velocity of this event can be increased. The simplest model aircraft capable of displaying this instability includes the flexible wing and the planar flight dynamics model. For this purpose, the wing structure is modeled using the Euler-Bernoulli beam and, the theory of minimum variable state is used to model unstable aerodynamics to make the conditions suitable for modeling the system in state space. In the control section, the elevator is used as the control surface and LQR theory with Kalman filter is used to body freedom flutter suppression. Finally, the effect of adding a closed loop control to increase the body freedom flutter velocity and the limitations of this work are studied.

Abstract:

Introduction: Vegetables and fruits are susceptible to spoilage due to their high moisture content. Increasing drying time might be regarded as the major cause of losses in agricultural products. The aim of this research is to decrease drying time by using combination of FIR and convective drier.Materials and Methods: This study is concerned with a mathematical modeling based on thin layer drying model in convective drier and evaluates the combined convective and radiation drying methods and also investigates the effects of air inlet conditions on the moisture content and on the drying time. The mass and energy balance of the system were solved simultaneously using a numerical technique. The model was applied to air temperatures of 30 to 60°C and air velocity of 1 to 3m/s to evaluate the model. The model equation was solved numerically by using MATLAB software. Results: The results of the model were compared with the reference data and showed a good agreement. The drying rate was increased with increases in the temperature and velocity, therefore reducing the total drying time. The prediction of the average moisture content, air temperature and drying time as compared with the experimental results are in good agreements. Conclusion: In order to increase the efficiency, FIR and convective drier were combined and applied. The results indicated that the drying time in combined method is reduced by 58%.

Abstract:

Cardiovascular diseases are a major threat to the survival of human beings. An electrocardiogram is used in the diagnosis of heart diseases. But many types of noises are present to deter the quality of ECG signals. Thus, these noises must be filtered using a Digital filter like FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filter. There are different approaches to designing an FIR filter. One of the prominent ways is by using windows. There are other ways of designing the FIR filters but filtering using windows is one of the fastest ways of designing the FIR filters. In this paper different orders to filter has been analyzed and the best order to filter the ECG is found. Using that order different windows of FIR filter has been designed using Xilinx System Generator which is used to filter the noisy ECG signal. Also, various windows have been compared for filtering noises in ECG like Baseline Wander noise and Muscle Artifacts noise. The best window among all the windows is found out using MATLAB Simulink.

Abstract:

One of the issues of reliable performance in the power grid is the existence of electromechanical oscillations between interconnected generators. The number of generators participating in each electromechanical oscillation mode and the frequency oscillation depends on the structure and function of the power grid. In this paper, to improve the transient nature of the network and damping electromechanical fluctuations, a decentralized robust adaptive control method based on dynamic programming has been used to design a stabilizing power system and a complementary static var compensator (SVC) controller. By applying a single line to ground fault in the network, the robustness of the designed control systems is demonstrated. Also, the simulation results of the method used in this paper are compared with controllers whose parameters are adjusted using the PSO algorithm. The simulation results show the superiority of the decentralized robust adaptive control method based on dynamic programming for the stabilizing design of the power system and the complementary SVC controller. The performance of the control method is tested using the IEEE 16-machine, 68-bus, 5-area is verified with time domain simulation.

2Background and Aims: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of the type of zirconia (multilayer or monochrome) on the marginal and internal fit of a three-unit bridge. Material and Methods: In a maxillary model, the FIRst premolar and FIRst molar were prepared to receive 3-unit zirconia fixed dental prostheses and then scanned. Each scan was used to make two bridges (one with multi-layer and the other with monochrome zirconia). With Exocad software, the bridge was designed and then milled. The bridges milled in the previous stage were evaluated and compared with the replica method in terms of internal and marginal fit. For statistical analysis, an independent t-test was used to evaluate marginal, cervical, and axial fit, and the Mann-Whitney test was used to evaluate occlusal fit. (P = 0. 05) Result: The average marginal and cervical gaps in monochrome zirconia were 65. 30±20. 00 and 72. 42 ±10. 11 micrometers, respectively, and in multi-layer zirconia were 70. 76±14. 71 and 78. 74±11. 91 micrometers, and this difference was not statistically significant (P>0. 05). The average axial and occlusal gaps in monochrome zirconia were 102. 5±10. 70 and 118. 9±18. 52 micrometers respectively and in multilayer zirconia 114. 8±18. 88 and 141. 6±29. 88 micrometers, this difference was statistically significant and the average gap in monochrome zirconia was less than multilayer zirconia (P<0. 05). Conclusion: Monochrome zirconia restorations show similar marginal and internal fit compared to multilayer zirconia restorations. Although the occlusal and axial gap in multi-layer zirconia is more than in monochrome zirconia, it is within the clinically acceptable range. Multilayer zirconia is generally clinically usable.

Abstract:

The present trend of low power and area has led to the design of many efficient algorithms for speech processing in portable devices.  In biomedical applications like hearing aid, high performance is not the key area of interest. Area and power also play a major role. There are many factors that affect market penetration. So, the system can run as slow as possible to trade speed for power and area. An area-efficient folded IIR filter is designed. The folded architecture uses the concept of time multiplexing and it has only one multiplier and one adder to perform all the operations. Thus, the area is reduced, and this filter is converted into an IP. The area and resource utilization of the folded IIR filter is compared with the normal IIR filter design. AFIR filter is also designed and converted into an IP. This FIR IP is used in the block design to process a corrupted audio signal. Zed board is a part of Xilinx zynq -7000 All Programmable SoC. It consists of a processing system and programming logic. The filter design is implemented in the programming logic part. The design is synthesized and the bitstream is generated. The generated bitstream along with the hardware is exported to SDK where the corrupted audio signal is processed on zed board.

Abstract:

In this research, FIR wood (Abies spp. ) was thermally modified by retification process. The effect of modification process on physical and mechanical properties of FIR wood were evaluated. For this aim, FIR wood specimens with 12% moisture content were modified in the steel tank with nitrogen gas medium at different temperatures (180 ° C, 200 ° C, and 220 ° C) and 15 hours retention time. Physical properties such as wood density, volumetric swelling, dimensional stability and mechanical properties such as modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE), shear and compression strength parallel to the grain and impact strength of different modified wood specimens were evaluated. Results showed that by increasing treatment temperature, during modification process, water absorption and volumetric swelling were decreased and dimensional stability was improved. Also, results revealed that the mechanical strength of modified wood such as MOR, MOE, shear and compression strength parallel to grain and impact strength were decreased.
